Happy Summer Solstice!

This weekend marks the beginning of summer, but it is bittersweet for me, as the hours of light will start to lessen - we have hit our high point for the year. I can't seem to get enough these days - I want to fill myself with sunlight and fresh air as much as I can, because then I feel truly loved.

Painted Sticks

Back in December, I made some winter solstice gifts for some friends. The whole process was a joy - from the cold walk looking for smooth sticks, to painting and choosing which of my rocks to pair with them, to packaging everything up in handmade envelopes, to my delight in watching everyone open their gifts!

Winter Solstice Celebration

Music, games, chokecherry wine, meatballs (made with organic pork, pine nuts, raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg), polenta, salad (made with spinach, cheese, pecans, and rosemary roasted beets), and many various cookies, lighting candles with our intentions for the coming year, and gift giving. What a wonderful evening!
